Kite Day Saturday March 2, 2013 10-4
Kite Festival
For all ages. Will March blow in like a lion? Henrico's kite enthusiasts certainly hope so! The Richmond Air Force Kite Club in cooperation with Henrico Recreation and Parks invite you to join us for a day of kite flying, children's activities, exhibits, demonstrations, and more. Free kites to the first 300 kids! Children's activities and exhibits will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Demonstrations and public kite flying will be available 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase. Virginia's true heroes of education.
You can help celebrate Virginia's heroes of education by nominating a Super Teacher. The Virginia Lottery's Super Teacher Awards honor outstanding Virginia public school teachers, and thanks them for their dedication and commitment to students and their families. This program recognizes teachers who go the extra mile each day and who inspire others to do the same. So far, the program has honored 40 of Virginia's finest teachers.
The Virginia Lottery is proud to partner with the Virginia PTA and the Supply Room Companies to sponsor the Super Teacher awards for the sixth year.
The Virginia Lottery is committed to education in Virginia. Lottery profits support public education, and have contributed more than $5 billion to Virginia's K- 12 education. Lottery employees support education by volunteering at public schools around the Commonwealth, and unclaimed lottery winnings support the state's Literary Fund.
All full-time, fully licensed K- 12 public school educators in Virginia are eligible for nomination.
Any adult, 18 years or older, may nominate a teacher, and he or she may nominate more than one teacher.
Nominating a deserving teacher is easy. Simply go to vasuperteacher.com and follow the instructions.
Nominations must be received by February 15, 2013.
Each of the eight winners will receive a $2,000 cash prize from the Virginia Lottery, and a $2,000 classroom supply credit from The Supply Room Companies.
This year, one of the eight schools at which a Super Teacher was honored will be selected to win an ADDITIONAL $5,000 credit provided by The Supply Room Companies to purchase items for the entire school. That school will be chosen through a Facebook contest, which will be held in spring 2013.

Arena Racing USA - Check it Out!
Looking for some fun and exciting, FAMILY-FRIENDLY entertainment during these winter months? Go see Arena Racing at the Richmond Coliseum!

What is Arena Racing? The cars are half-scale stock cars running on a one-tenth mile banked oval track, the size of a hockey rink. On a typical racing night, there are four individual races totaling almost 200 laps of exciting racing! LEGO KidsFest Visits Richmond
The LEGO KidsFest is a giant traveling LEGO expo coming to Virginia's Greater Richmond Convention Center February 15-17, 2013.
This hands-on, educational, all-ages LEGO extravaganza features millions of LEGO bricks not to mention lots of construction zones, dozens of life-sized LEGO models and displays, LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Games, group builds such as Creation Nation, live LEGO Master Builders, and so much more covering three acres of space.
Five identical sessions are available. Tickets are $18 for kids and $20 for adults.
LEGO lovers will enjoy the interactive experience filled with activities and creative fun for the entire family!
